In the era of environmental awareness and responsible consumption, choosing the right packaging can determine the future of not only your product, but also the environment. At Aris Pack, we offer an effective and sustainable solution – recyclable packaging that not only protects products but also meets all environmental standards.
What are the ways to produce eco friendly stand up pouches?
For a long time, our team has been studying the dynamics of the packaging market, interacting with technologists from different countries. The goal was to find an innovative approach to minimise the negative impact of packaging use. It turned out that there are two main areas of eco-friendly packaging in the world: biodegradable (made from corn or potato starch) and recyclable.

By using recyclable packaging, we are making a choice in favour of a greener future. Such packaging is easy to recycle, reducing the negative impact of plastic. Ukraine has the necessary recycling infrastructure in place so that we can do our part to preserve the environment.
Our recyclable packaging is the result of global trends towards simplifying materials for easier recycling. We use mono-materials for our MDO-PE and LDPE laminates. Replacing complex laminates with monomaterials allows us to reduce the number of layers in the packaging, which we join together in production with a special solvent-free adhesive.
MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) is a special film technology that is distinguished by its efficiency and ability to ensure packaging density with minimal material consumption. MDO-PE films are made by extruding polyethylene resin at a relatively low temperature, and then stretching it in the machine direction. This process creates a film with unique properties such as high strength and elasticity. MDO technology is also characterised by its cost-effectiveness and environmental friendliness. The use of less material in the production of the film reduces waste and makes efficient use of resources. In addition, due to its high strength and barrier properties, MDO-PE film provides reliable protection of the product from external factors.
Why do we use MDO-PE in the manufacture of eco friendly pouches?
- Material optimisation: Thanks to MDO technology, high performance can be achieved with a minimum film thickness. This means that less material is used for the required packaging quality, which effectively reduces the use of polyethylene material.
- Printing options: The glossy and transparent film provides the required appearance of the packaging according to design ideas. The material is suitable for any type of branding and makes printing high-quality and attractive.
- Minimal deformation: Due to its high stiffness, MDO-PE film holds its shape well, which is very important when transporting packages with finished products. The high stiffness of the film also ensures its resistance to impact and tearing.
The way to simplify materials also includes replacing foil with other films with high barrier properties, such as EVOH. This not only provides protection against external factors, but also facilitates packaging recycling. Although traditional thermoplastic resin materials such as polypropylene or polyethylene have a certain degree of barrier properties, they are not generally considered ‘barrier’ materials. For example, polypropylene is naturally an excellent barrier to moisture, but not so good at protecting against oxygen. To protect the contents of the package from both oxygen and moisture, a barrier material must be included in the film – and this is where materials such as EVOH come in.
EVOH stands for ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and is a flexible, crystal clear, glossy thermoplastic copolymer. EVOH is also known for having some of the best barrier properties against gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, making it particularly suitable for packaging coffee, medicines, cosmetics and other perishable products. The combination of PE/EVOH/PE makes it possible to produce recyclable packaging that protects both your product and the environment.
Why don’t we produce biodegradable stand up pouches at Aris Pack?
The answer is simple: biodegradable packaging is not environmentally sound. Global studies have shown that even with proper composting, such packaging does not decompose completely and without harm to nature. Most biodegradable materials leave behind microplastics, which have a negative impact on soil and groundwater. In addition, doypack biodegradable is not suitable for packaging most products, as it lacks a barrier layer to ensure preservation.
Using foodstuffs (corn or potato starch) to create packaging violates our ethical principles. Giving preference to such methods means competing with people’s basic needs.
Areas of application of recyclable bags:
We offer two types of recyclable bags to choose from: doy-pack and flat bottom. For your convenience, we have kept additional options such as:
– zip-lock closure for repeated opening/closing
– tear-off cuts for easy opening
– rounded corners
– degassing valve
It’s important to note that the zip-lock and the vent valve are also recyclable.
What you pack inside is your choice. The barrier of the packaging allows you to store tea, granola, muesli, cereals, sugar, protein mixes and other bulk products, and even freshly roasted coffee. By choosing our recyclable packaging, you are making a contribution to the environment and becoming part of an environmentally conscious community.
